Abstract

Astronomy is a subject of great interest to high school students, but its approach in the classroom is still scarce. Among the justifications, teachers report that the subjects are abstract and this characteristic makes it difficult to implement them in the teaching process. Among the main difficulties reported in relation to students are the basic mathematics and the materialization of the most abstract concepts. This paper presents a proposal to construct a concrete representational model of the Orion constellation from the mean distance data obtained in the Stellarium software, converted to a smaller scale. It is a tool that enables the teacher, in addition to approaching a theoretical perspective of the contents, to help the student in the mathematical interpretation and transformation of an abstract knowledge into a concrete one. It is a proposal that encourages and causes interest in the student, and can provide a possible vision of understanding space and the universe, favoring a meaningful learning.
