FEATURES IN SCIENTIFIC OUTREACH TEXTS THAT BOOST THE INTEREST OF YOUNG PEOPLE FOR SCIENCE

Abstract

In this paper we have identified the main characteristics scientific outreach texts that have the potential to foster the interest and facilitate learning of science in children and teenagers. For this, we produced text using scientific journalism techniques plus scientific information from Brazilian researchers from the J-PAS (Javalambre Physics of the Accelerating Universe Astrophysical Survey) collaboration. We applied this material in classes of Middle School (7th, 8th and 9th grades) and High School (1st Year). The results indicate that the use of scientific outreach texts can be an effective strategy not only for spreading knowledge, but also for teaching astronomy in the classroom. This work was developed in the context of the professional master's degree in astronomy teaching, which had as its educational product a dissemination network centered on the Wordpress platform and linked to the social networks Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus and an e-book aimed at teachers with parameters of choice scientific dissemination texts for didactic activities and a didactic activity proposal with scientific outreach texts.
