Abstract

In the last two decades with the rise of new technologies, the forms of communication and global interaction have changed. Part of the gigantic number of images shared all the time on the internet, increasingly, are astrophotographs. However, astrophotographs are not used very often to teach science or astronomy or have any relation with astronomy education. There is a notable lack of access to materials aimed at science and astronomy teaching using astrophotographs. It is also noticed the lack of instruction, access and application of astrophotography as a didactic resource in formal and non-formal environments of science learning. The goal of the “Astrophotography in school” guide is to make astrophotography and its practice low-cost and accessible. It is a practical guide to be used in school and S&T events, by teachers, education professionals and students. The purpose of this work is to present the didactic resource “Astrophotography in school: A quick astrophotography guide for teachers and students” and to contribute to the debate about the use of astrophotographs as teaching resources. Finally, the proposed goals were achieved, since the “Astrophotography in school” guide was presented, discussed, made available and disseminated.
