Abstract

A model of the shadow of a gnome, which can be adjusted to any location on the planet, and allows to follow the evolution of the shadow produced by the Sun throughout the day, is presented, both in its constructive details and in its correct positioning for the chosen latitude. The model is easy to build, and meets the National Common Curricular Base, adopted in Brazil, for the Elementary School level, in the field of Astronomy. Its use is also indicated at the Middle and High School, as well as in disciplines of Teacher's courses such as Science, Physics Mathematics, Geography.
