Abstract

The present work aims to show the organization of teaching the theme of constellations through an experience report of a teaching practice in a teacher training course at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rondônia (IFRO). The eight students of the degree in physics took the course Introduction to Astronomy and Astronautics throughout the first semester of 2022 and one of the topics covered was the constellations, their origins and their need for the ancient world and still for the contemporary. The methodologies used to address the topic included the use of 3D printed materials, the construction of a model of a constellation chosen by them, lectures on the topic and, finally, the use of a planisphere to map the sky. The students demonstrated a complete understanding of the social function of constellations in ancient civilizations, they also evidenced the need to deepen the content and approved the methodology used as a preponderant factor to lead them to the understanding of aspects related to constellations.
