Abstract

The objective of this research is to identify the findings of researches made between 2008 and 2018 about astronomy at the beginning of Elementary School from a bibliographic review of Digital Data Bank of Thesis and Dissertations, Bank of Thesis of CAPES and the Bank of Thesis and Dissertations on Education in Astronomy, searched with the words “astronomy, initial years”. Twenty-three papers were identified and analyzed. The results indicated that the teaching of Astronomy at the Initial Years of Elementary School is a seldom explored area and reveal that: (1) there is a need to rethink the initial formation of teachers, given that, during their graduation most of them do not have contact with Astronomy; (2) continuing education courses can help overcome teacher’s contents and methodological difficulties, and (3) the researches must reach the initial years’ teacher so they can participate in the academic discussions about this theme.
