Abstract

This is a literature review of works that produced or used multisensory teaching materials for teaching astronomy with an emphasis on including students with visual impairments, published between 2002 and 2024. After analyzing the results, 35 articles were selected, which were read, synthesized and categorized. It was found that there is a predominance of models that reproduced Earth, Sun and Moon, and it was also found that the astronomy topics that appeared most in these productions were: celestial models, Solar System and Sun-Earth-Moon system. Possibly, the choice of these themes was due to the influence of official curricular documents. Although the number of publications grew, especially after 2011, it was noticed that there was a lack of models for other objects in the Solar System, and for approaching more complex concepts, such as stars and the universe. Notions of threedimensionality and proportionality were not always considered in the production of models, which can lead to the development of misconceptions about the composition of celestial bodies, distances and positions in space. The results also indicate that in addition to expanding themes, it is important to develop more applications of these models, as well as carry out research into their potential for learning the concepts in question.
